49ers: A step behind?
The Sanfrancisco 49ers are now 2-3 after the home loss (21-30) to the New England Patriots. It was looking good when they took a 14-7 lead but better quality took over after half-time.
The 49ers still look like a step behind in every aspect of the team - the potential is definately there but has yet to really stamp its authority through the roster. QB J.T O’ Sullivan is doing an ok job (his three INTS Sunday were a concern though).
RB Frank Gore is still an exciting back to watch, you never know what is going to happen when he touches the ball - he can appear to get down on himself a lot though - he needs to rise above it and stay focused.
WR Isacc Bruce is starting to find his feet and looks to spark the other receivers, a shame that TE Vernon Davis is missing in action through the first five games. OLB Patrick Willis still plays above his experience, hopefully he can maintain the intensity game after game (even when the losses keep coming!).
DE Justin Snith has been a great addition - he’s showing the other less-experienced players what it means to be an NFL player. The DB’s aren’t doing the best job, too many big plays getting converted too easily.
A long season ahead but it doesn’t look like it’ll get any easier from here.
